The Hatchery

The turnoff is located off the Glenwood Highway at mile marker 3. Drive 3.5 miles down into the canyon and the boat launch is located off of the visitors parking area. Back down the road for an easy launch. Rafts are recommended for this section of the river.

Summit Creek/Steele Bridge/One Lane Bridge

AS OF 2017 BOTH LAUNCHES ARE GATED AND LOCKED!!!! OPTIONS are further up above the single lane bridge when road is open!!!!

The turnoff is located on the Glennwood Highway at mile marker 12.7. Drive 3.5 miles on the road along the river. There are two options here, the first, One Lane, is just below the one lane bridge. This ramp is steep and rocky. A 4×4 will make it easier but is not necessary. The second option, Summit Creek, is 1/4 mile down river from the bridge. There is an area to camp and the ramp is an easy launch. Use rafts in highwater situations.

Leidl Campground Boat Ramp

Located on the Glenwood Highway at mile marker 11.5. This is an easy maintained launch. Primitive camping is available. It is a F&W park so a vehicle use permit or discovery pass is required. This is a nice place to camp (free with permit) and wade fish up and down river.

Stinson Flats Boat Ramp

*Concrete launch was lost in high water. New launch is 100′ downstream from old launch.

Located on the Glenwood Highway at mile mark 10.2. Drive approximately 1 mile down to the river with an easy maintained launch. Primitive Camping is available. Also a F&W park so a vehicle use permit or discover pass is required. Excellent place to camp (free with permit) and wade fish up and down river.

Slid in Boat Ramp

Located on Highway 142 at mile marker 18.2. This is an unimproved, steep and rocky landing. It is a difficult launch and even more difficult take out as you have to winch your boat up the bank. However this is a popular launch site with plenty of parking. You are encouraged to take a good look before launching or taking out here. A 4×4 will help but is not necessary.

Ice house Boat Ramp

Located on Hwy 142 at mile marker 15.3. This is an easy maintaind launch. Primitive camping is available. This is a F&W park so a vehicle parking permit or discovery pass is required. This is a nice campground (free with permit). Not much wade fishing here.

Town Park & Boat Ramp

Located in the town of Klickitat, take 1st Street down to the river. This is an unimproved landing with a nice sandy slope down into the river.

Upper Pitt/China Hole Boat Ramp

Located on Hwy 142 at mile marker 10.1 1/8 of a mile upstream from the Pitt Bridge. This is an unimproved landing. This is a better launch/take out than lower pitt especially during low water. 4×4 recommended but not necessary.

Lower Pitt Boat Ramp

Located on Hwy 142 at mile marker 10 directly below the Pitt Bridge. This is an unimproved landing, very rocky during low water. Try Upper Pitt. Take the left channel or you will be pulling your boat up river to the take out. 4×4 recommended but not necessary. Both entrances are rocky the second entrance is a steep downhill entrance.

9 Mile /3 pines Boat Ramp

Located on Hwy 142 at mile marker 8.2. This is an unimproved landing with a tall sandy bank. Not many rocks but similar to Slide In. Okay for launching but not the best for take outs. However there is a lot of parking.

7 Mile Boat Ramp

Located on Hwy 142 at mile marker 7.2. This is an unimproved landing but is a gentle sandy slope into the water. The turn off is tough to see in the trees.

5 Mile Boat Ramp

Located on Hwy 142 at mile marker 5.5. This is an unimproved landing but with a gentle slope into the water. Warning! This is the last take out before Dillacorte Rapids and the Klickitat Gorge, 2 places you do not want to be in a drift boat or raft. About half a mile down the road is a nice F&W primitive campground (free with permit).
